Initial or Monogram Jewelry

The saying, “Good things come in small packages,” could not be more accurate when the little box you give this holiday has a personalized, wearable treasure inside for the receiver.  We are talking about initial or monogram jewelry.  This gift is super trendy yet has a rich history and never goes out of style.  Until the 19th century, monogrammed or initial jewelry was mainly reserved for the ruling class (Volandes, 2020). One of the most iconic initial pieces was worn by Anne Boleyn, King Henry VIII’s second wife.  She adorns the letter B in her infamous portrait housed in London’s National Gallery.  And nearly 450 years later, another royal, Princess Diana, kept the trend alive. She wore a silver D before, and soon after, she married Prince Charles.

With the Industrial Revolution came mass production and a growing middle class. This ushered in a demand for jewelry that more common folks could own. One of the top choices included personalized pendants (Volandes, 2020).

Today, monogram pieces vary in style, price, and metal type.  You can find costume pieces for as low as a few dollars to precious metals adorned with jewels for thousands of dollars.  Whatever your budget, you can find a piece that will be a gift that is remembered and worn.

A small white box with the word LUCKFAIRA printed on the box. It is resting against a pastel color stand with the word MERRY in pink, purple, light blue and yellow. Two snowflakes are at either end of the word MERRY. The snowflakes are brown in white markings.
A gold chain for wearing around the neck with the letter L to left side of the chain. The background is light purple with white streaks.

Here is a simple initial necklace I found on Amazon. It came neatly packaged and cost $13.99. It is now a limited-time deal for $9.87. Search for the LuckFairy Store on Amazon. It is a dainty, 14K gold-plated initial sideways necklace. I think it is so cute, and what a great price. It also has a 4.5-star rating!!

Let us know if you have any initial or monogram jewelry that you adore – we would love to hear from you!
